  • 2008 Conference organization assistant - Job Contact Person: Brent Crowherst , Fredericton NB
    • Work: Employee will be expected to assist the board in managing a national solar energy conference occuring in 2008 in Fredericton. Administrative tasks will include fundraising, sponsorship, advertising, and correspondance. Employee will assist in management of the conferene while it is ongoing. Oppurtunity to liase with and assist our co-sponsor of the event, the Solar Buildings Research Network, an academic network for researchers and industry. Oppurtunity for creative input into vision of a grassroots event centred around renewable energy. The final deliverable will be a comprehensive after action report detailing the process taken and recommendations for the next annual conference.
    • Supervision/mentoring: Employee will be expected to maintain contact with board via teleconference. Direct supervision will be provided by a board member local to the area. The board will assume responsibilty for developing skills of employee, and guiding the employee in their task. Reporting will be through direct contact with local supervisor and via regular status reports to board.
    • Health/safety: Safety of employee is a priority, and all efforts will be made to ensure health and safety. Since this job is mainly clerical in nature, no major indcidents are expected. Any equipment setup activities during the conference will be undertaken by contractors.
  • Ottawa office assistant - job Contact Person: Frederic Pouyot, Ottawa ON
    • Work: The office assistant will be expected to assist the
      board in managing the national office from Ottawa. Administrative tasks will include bookkeeping, updates of membership database, assistance in creating new content for the web site, admin assistance with fundraising activities, sponsorship, advertising, and correspondance. The Admin assistant
      will assist president and/or executice director, as well as Ottawa
      based secretary and vice-treasurer with various tasks related to the
      organisation's operation.
    • Supervision/mentoring: Direct supervision of the admin assistant will be provided by the president and/or the execuitve director, and support will be available from board member
      local to the Ottawa area. The local Ottawa board members, esepcially the president, will assume responsibilty for developing
      skills of employee, and guiding the employee in their task. Reporting
      will be through direct contact with local supervisor and via regular
      status reports to the local board.
    • Education & Skills: College or University education in Business administration, experience with related activities. Office productivity tools such as word processing, spreasheets, email, accounting software. Good oral and writen communication skills. Ability to learn new software. Ability to manage own workload and to be pro-active.
    • Health/safety:
